Overall Rules and Defaults
- Ace's are high.
- Ace's can be low when used in small straights or low hands.
- The dealer decides the games and optional rules.
- The dealer pays the ante for all of the players.
- Wild cards aren't used in low hands.
- If the first card face up is wild, as in Seven Card Stud, it isn't wild until another card is played with it. That is, it's not considered an Ace when determining who bets first.
- The Wheel is not used for low hands.
- Deal starts going to the left.
- Games go around to the left with each person dealing.
- For games like Jacks or better when the requirement isn't met, the next deal moves to the left. This doesn't count as taking up that persons deal. So once the game is over the deal goes to the player left of the player who started the game.
- Betting starts from the left of the dealer. For games like Five Card Draw the person can place a bet or pass. Then the next person on the left does the same. For games of Seven Card Stud the person with the first high hand bets. Starting from the left of the dealer. So for example two people got Ace's on the first round then the person with the first Ace starts the bet.
- For quick games like Five Card Stud each player, including the dealer, puts in another 50 cents.
- In high-low split games different cards can be used for each hand.
- In a high-low split games where you must declare before showing your hand if you are going high, low, or both (piggy), the player going both (piggy) must win both hands. If he doesn't but wins either none or only one hand then he loses all.
