Poker Tonk

This is a version of Five Card Stud poker but is not played during poker nights.

Tonk is when a player knocks on the table signaling they are going to go out.

Best poker hand wins.

Players can optionally call out wild cards.

To start each player ante's up. Say fifty cents.

Deal each player five cards.

The remaining cards are the draw pile place face down. One card is turned over from the top for the discard pile.

Players will either take the top card of the draw pile or the top card of the discard pile. They will then discard a card so they always have five cards. They have the option of tonking at this point. If so, each player will then have just one more turn to make a good hand. Once the game comes back to the player who tonked everyone lays out their hand.

If a player doesn't tonk on their turn just keep going until someone does.

Play continues on until someone tonks and it is determined who has the best poker hand to win the pot.

For the first round only, the player to the left of the dealer, before picking up a card, can just tonk. No players can take a card but instead everyone just lays out their hand.

If the player to the left of the dealer does not tonk right away but does pick up a card they can still tonk afterward. In this case every player will get a chance to pick up a card.
