Buck Up

This is another game with tricks and trump cards.

The goal is to get as many of the tricks as possible.

Decide what the ante will be for the game.

To start have three bowls or pots and each player puts an equal ante in each bowl/pot.

In this game there are only three tricks to win in each round and for each trick won a player gets one of the pots. It's possible a player can get none, one, two, or all three pots.

Once the pot is broken the game ends. A pot is broken when there are three players who stayed in and all three pots are taken and no one has to pay up (i.e. each player won a pot).

THE ROUND

Deal 3 cards to each player.

Dealer then flips the top card of the deck which will be trump for the round.

For the first round each player must stay in.

Subsequent rounds players decide if they are in or out, clockwise left of the dealer. But there must be at least three players in. So if players drop out no other players can drop out once there are only three left.

Play starts with the player to the left of the dealer with any card, including trump. Other players must follow suit if they can. If they can't they throw off with any other card.

At the end of the round players get a pot for each trick taken.

Players who stayed in but didn't win any tricks must ante up an equal amount in each pot.

Keep playing until the pot is broken. That is there are three players in and each won a pot.

At this point start again with each player having to stay in the first round and each will ante up.
